The New Potatoes (Fred Lail/Mary Mondon/Scott Walker)
The New Potatoes (Fred Lail/Mary Mondon/Scott Walker) will perform traditional Irish music. Doors open at 6:00pm, so come early to order dinner. The concert will be followed by a Irish session, so bring your instruments and plan to join in the fun! Irish dancers also welcomed!
Fred Lail has been fiddling around for over 30 years. He was given his first violin in high school as pay for playing the electric viola with a rock band. Fred then earned a B.S. degree in music education. He taught, composed for, and conducted public school orchestras for many years. During the 70's, his fiddling friends, Mike Cross and Clay Buckner, introduced him to Irish music.
Mary met Fiddlin' Fred at an Irish fiddle class in 1995. After a year-long courtship and wedding, Mary knew that if she was going to be in the "band" with her husband that she would need to learn another instrument. Mary started learning the bodhran, the tin whistle and, in recent years has taken on the Irish button accordion.
