Grant Peeples CD Release with special guest Abigail Dowd
"No performer holds a crowd like Grant Peeples" - Barry White- S. Florida Folk Network
"He's the Woody Guthrie of the New Millennium" - Larry Newman-WSCA
Grant Peeples, a masterful wordsmith, has made ten studio records (4 of which are produced by the incomparable Gurf Morflix), three live recordings and two poetry books. He tours coast-to-coast, primarily as a solo artist, but often with a side man. He usually plays festivals with his band The Peeples Republik.
His songs are pithy reflections on the New South, the times, the country’s state of affairs and his lifetime experiences. Often his songs simply tell a story. But always the lyrics are spot-on, the gritty delivery effective, the intent serious and the aim true — whether his topic is love, politics, religion, relationships or the existential condition. Given his strong views and no-holds-barred style, Peeples may offend some. No one, however, can doubt his convictions or artistic integrity.
Abigail Dowd, singer, songwriter, guitarist, grew up under the North Carolina longleaf pines and hints of the early Celtic settlers weave through her music. Abigail comes from a long line of musicians. She taught herself to play the guitar at age 14 and went on to study classical guitar with Danny Infantino. In 2009, with a duffle bag and her guitar, Abigail moved to Florence, Italy, and then to Maine, where she spent five years writing songs and developing her own style. Her lyrics are mesmerizing and her bluesy voice has been described as “a rare thing that is at once strong and generous in its vulnerability."
